HAIR! HAIR! HAIR!
Where to start, October of 2008 my sister Sara and I decided to shave our hair in support of our sister Beka who is dealing with breast cancer.
Here are the pre and post pictures of me shaving my head. Before I cut my hair I had always kept my hair long because I was told that I would not look good with short hair, and somewhere in the back of my mind there was always a possibility that my x-husband and I were going to get together so I kept it long because he would not like it short. So long story short I cut my hair for the first time since high school above my shoulders in 2005. I grew it back out when I was pregnant with Kalala. Then after talking to my sister about cutting my hair. I asked laki if would mind if I cut my hair and he said no. I only had one apprehension. I was worried that all of my femininity would be gone once I shaved my hair. I found out that once II cut my hair, I felt even more feminine than ever before. My eyes popped for the first time in my life. Laki loved my hair and said that I was beautiful. I had great friends that totally supported me in supporting my sister.
I have been working at growing out my hair since then. It has been such a long process. When I first moved back to Cali I went to see my stylist that I had in high school named Bonnie. She essentially cut my hair back to being super short. I went back to see her for my birthday where she cut about an inch off of my hair. I have another appointment to trim my hair this coming friday. I am excited, I love getting my hair trimmed cause I feel so dang hot!
When school started I began taking Biotin on recommendation of a girl Julie in my class. I have not taken it religiously especially towards the end of the semester but I have been taking it everyday this year. I am really looking forward to my hair being long again! I miss the length and right now I feel as though I have an eighties hair cut which is just awful.
I have also done lots of research about supplements and techniques for assisting hair to grow. I found this website off another website from a raw guru.

I have talked to my dear friend Robbin about my hair cutting ideas and she just laughs and says there is no way that the moon can help me to grow my hair. She may be right but I am going to try it non the less. I am getting my hair cut on February 20th. It is a perfect time to cut my hair to help it grow out. The website that I got this at also had some interesting techniques for combing your hair. see below

How to Brush Your Hair

Stand erect, then bend over from the waist as far down as you can, allowing the blood to flow into the scalp. This increase in circulation stimulates and nourishes the entire scalp and follicles, activating new hair growth. Firmly grasp the brush by the handle; draw it up from the nape of the neck along the sides and over the crown to the front hairline in a slow, easy motion, all the way to the ends of the hair. Brushing for 3 to 5 minutes stimulates the glands and scalp as well. More importantly, it fills the brush bristles with sebum, which you are now ready to distribute to your scalp and hair.

Stand erect with your brush, which is now laden with sebum. Brush from the front hairline back through the hair, allowing the brush to penetrate to the scalp. Stroking smoothly and gently to avoid scratching the scalp, brush down to the nape, all the way to the ends of your hair. This thoroughly coats your hair with sebum, allowing this “natural elixir” to condition and add body and luster to your hair.

Which Brush to Use

Using the proper brush is as important as properly brushing your hair. A natural-bristle brush is the best one to use. Boar bristles are ideal. They are almost identical to human hair in texture. They are gentle and unintrusive to your hair, and evenly distribute your natural oils while absorbing excess oil and removing foreign matter. Some of the finest boar bristle brushes on the market today are by Morrocco Method. Their unique, pneumatic rubber cushion allows the bristles to adjust to the contour of your scalp without pulling or breaking your hair, providing maximum stimulation without irritating the scalp.

There are approximately 4 different types of Morrocco Method brushes. To choose the brush that is ideal for your hair and scalp depends on the thickness of your hair and the sensitivity of your scalp-you may need a very soft bristle brush or a very regular-hard one. You will know the brush that is right for you by the soothing, enlivening effect it has on your scalp.

When to Brush

For the ultimate maintenance and rejuvenation of your hair, it is vitally important to maintain a schedule of regular brushing. For optimum results, brush your hair and scalp three times a day – in the morning, late afternoon and at bedtime. Before you brush, sit quietly for three minutes, breathing slowly and deeply through your nose. Calm your body, especially your shoulders, forehead and scalp, releasing any tension and allowing for the maximum flow of blood and air to these areas.

Make brushing a habit. Set a regular schedule and commit to it. Make brushing part of your daily rising routine. After brushing your teeth, brush your hair. Following work, play, exercise or school, brush it again, then once more before bedtime. Nightly brushing is critical. By coating your hair with additional sebum, you will be conditioning your new growth of hair throughout the night.

I am just passing the information on to you. I will let you know how the growth goes. I am excited for it to be long once again.

I am also beginning to get gray hair. I am happy about this also. I love the salt and pepper look. I do not think that it is very noticeable right now which is okay. I do not plan on coloring my hair to get rid of the gray. I am noticing that the more I am in the sun the lighter my hair is becoming. Just like it did when I was in high school. I do notice that Lala's hair is the same as mine in that respect. Her ends are a beautiful auburn/red color.

So this is the end of the post. I will post a picture once a week to see if my hair is growing. I do plan on implementing the brushing techniques above to assist my hair. I will let you know how that goes also!

So beka called me and asked me if I had done any make up yet. I said no. I asked her what to do and she said to do Bright purple and silver. Here is what I came up with. I dont know what is going on. I can't do brights, I can do smokey eyes and neutral which is my norm but brights I have quite a hard time with. So I will get to work on this!

So Beka is coming out this thursday. I will be driving with her out to mom and dads and she will be staying with them over the weekend while I drive to Cali for the interview. I will pick her up on the way back and we will spend lots of time together.

I bought the fabric for the stacked coins from Pine needles which is in Gardner village. the White sashing and back fabric are from Walmart. Pine needles sells their fabric for 7-12 dollars a yard. too expensive for my budget!

She uses mostly mineral powder make up and does very beautiful looks. She recently did this look and I chose to repeat it. Although there is this really fun looking one.
